No matter how progressive the times, gender roles will forever be part of the conversation when deciding who is responsible for what in relationships. In this episode of the Perfect People Podcast, the crew discusses what their ideal roles consist of within their relationships. Some thoughts are traditional and some defy tradition, but whatever the case it is apparent that the more things change the more things stay the same. Even in non-traditional relationships, there inevitably comes a point both through discussion and naturally where things fall into place, and people are tasked and expected to perform certain duties to keep the relationship moving forward. From finances to who will take out the trash, it all has to be decided, and because the crew is made up of a married couple, a same-sex couple, and single people, as any listener can imagine, idealism and reality often do not converge. Auriel aka Auri being representative of the married couple talks a lot about communication being key, and Dee Dee speaks about there needing to not be such rigidity in the willingness to do things because roles can and should change depending on what is going on within the relationship. No matter where a person falls on the gender roles spectrum, at the end of the day, for there to be a healthy and thriving relationship, everyone has to pull their weight and if things change, it is important to have the conversation to make the necessary adjustments as to keep moving forward in the relationship.
